1042 Chemical Spills Part II: Control Procedures (DVD)
Whenever chemicals are in use, there is always the danger of an accidental spill or release. Generally, employees may clean up incidental chemical spills, that is, spills that are incidental to noral activites, and don not require the actions of a full-scale response team. Clean-up procedures may vary, depending on the employer and the chemical being used. In general, though, spill control follows the same basic steps, regardless of the materials used.
The key training points in this video include:
- Before attempting to clean up a spill, consult the Material Safety Data sheet.
- Obtain proper spill control equipment.
- Put on adequate personal protective equipment.
- Stop the source of the spill of leak.
- Absorb the spill with proper spill absorbent
